How we filmed it
Before Filming,
Before filming, we needed to come up the perfect concept of a film opening that we thought would be enjoyable. So as a team, we came up the final narrative you see at the bottom of the page. To start the process off we devised a our pitch which we would then try and sell to our teacher. This was crucial as we had to make it as intriguing as possible. After the pitch, we created our mood board, which was there to try and convey what our film was overall about. We then decided to create a shooting script and story board. The story boards were there to give us a general overview of the narrative structure which we would then use the shooting scripts to write down all important details for our film such as location and dates.
6th February, First filming session
To begin our shooting process we had to first decide on where the narrative would be set and what would be the best location. Our location was unmistakable, the woods. We decided on the woods as it presented this feeling 0f insecurity and self doubt as there is no buildings surrounding the chosen area. This was crucial to us as it set the atmosphere for our movie. Then the filming began. To thoroughly get a grasp of how our technology operated, we began by doing a few test shots, which seemed to go smoothly so we decided to begin the actual filming. The filming overall ran efficiently . Achieving the required group shot and mid shots. We only had a few errors in total. The main error was people walking in the background. As this continuously kept happening we had to redo a few shots. Another main problem we encountered was the background noise, which was a mixture of sounds that kept us to constantly retake shots. We were quite proud as we filmed most shots in one sitting to a high quality standard. After we were done, We waited for the transport back and then uploaded our footage to IMovie.
13th February, Second filming session
After reviewing our shots a few times over, we decided to go back and re-record shots of Tom as well as new shots for the beginning of our film. We invisioned a pan down of the sun, We could not do this on the first day as it was too cloudy and the sun was barley visible. The shots then taken went well yet we encountered the same problems as the previous encounter. Noise problems mixed with people in the background. Though we only had a few shots to do, they did come out extremely well. After the filming process was completed, we waited for transport. We finally put the footage on to the Mac. After this, we went and attempted to finally create our film.
Final Session
We realised we forgot a crucial part of our introduction. The alley murder. Since we were low on actors, we had to reuse an actor from before. This was a problem as we realised people may misunderstand the story and ask questions. We decided to try and disguise her face as much as we possibly could by using only close ups of her face. Though it did work, it did take a few retakes. We encountered one of the problems like before. Other people. Since it was a public place, we expected nothing more. We decided to use fake blood in a few shots. The fake blood was limited so we had to make it count as much as possible. Eventually, We were done with the alley shots and went back to upload them onto the Mac.
